Angel Heart (1987)

Harry Angel, a New York City private eye in the 1950s, is hired by a mysterious man named Louis Cyphre to track down a singer named Johnny Favorite who was injured in World War II and disappeared sometime after. Angel has a few leads, but the ones he follows keep ending up dead. Soon, it becomes clear that nothing is quite as it seems and that Angel is on the verge of uncovering a terrible secret.
