E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

Ten year old Elliot lives with his family in California. One day, startled by noises coming from his backyard, Elliot discovers an alien living in his shed. Elliot christens the alien E.T., short for Extra-Terrestrial. Elliot tries to keep the alien hidden from his family and the government agents that stalk him with varying degrees of success but ultimately becomes convinced that the best way to help E.T. is to reunite him with his family.
