Plot

In the heart-wrenching drama, Thank You for Your Service, we journey alongside a band of gallant U.S. soldiers as they navigate the treacherous terrain of post-war existence. Following a grueling 15-month tour in Iraq, these decorated warriors, led by the much-lauded Adam Schumann (Miles Teller), return to the deceptive calm of civilian life in Kansas. They are haunted by the relentless specter of a war that, despite their departure from the battlefield, continues to wage a fierce battle within their minds. Schumann, now a father to two young children, one born while he was still overseas, finds his homecoming marred by the invisible scars of war. His loving wife, Saskia (Haley Bennett), is desperate to reach the man hidden beneath the trauma, urging him to seek help from an already overwhelmed Department of Veterans Affairs. Nightmares and flashbacks of the horrors they've witnessed become their unwanted companions, threatening to shatter the peace they desperately yearn for. Among Schumann's comrades are Solo Aeiti (Beulah Koale), an American Samoan grappling with his own inner demons, and the tragically doomed Billy Waller (Joe Cole), whose life spirals into despair after a devastating personal loss. Their shared experiences, both on the battlefield and in the war against their own trauma, form the core of this deeply poignant narrative. Based on the bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and reporter David Finkel, this cinematic masterstroke marks the directorial debut of Jason Hall, renowned screenwriter of American Sniper. Boasting a stellar ensemble cast including Haley Bennett, Joe Cole, Amy Schumer, and more, Thank You for Your Service is a powerful exploration of the scars of war that linger long after the last shot is fired. Produced by Jon Kilik and executive produced by Ann Ruark and Jane Evans, this dramatic tapestry weaves a tale of heroism, sacrifice, and the enduring human spirit.
