The Hunt for Red October (1990)

Marko Ramius is a decorated Soviet naval officer who is commanding the Red October, the newest and technologically advanced Soviet Submarine. Ramius and his entire senior staff plan on defecting to the United States - if they can survive the trip across the Atlantic. The United States military is becoming increasingly concerned that Ramius means to make war on the United States, a belief that is aided by misinformation from the Soviets. Only Jack Ryan, a United States CIA analyst, realizes Raimus' true intentions. Ryan must help save Ramius and stop the Soviets from destroying the Red October before it can reach the United States.
