The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)

Tom Ripley is tasked with traveling to Europe to retrieve Dickie, the layabout son of Herbert Greenleaf. He finds Dickie in Italy, where he has taken up with a beautiful woman named Marge. Tom abandons his original goal of bringing Dickie back to America when he sees Dickie's extravagant lifestyle. Tom is a lower-class gentleman who can only dream of that kind of wealth. Instead, he uses his talents for petty theft and forgery to get a piece of the action. Tom starts spending more and more time with Dickie and Marge, but Dickie quickly becomes tired of Tom's desperation.
