In the gritty underbelly of Texas City, Texas, a chilling series of women's murders haunts the community. Seasoned detectives Brian Heigh, a compassionate family man with a Big Apple background, and his partner, the no-nonsense local, Mike Souder, find themselves ensnared in this ominously growing web of violence. Though the grisly crime scenes, found in a nearby marsh ominously known as "The Killing Fields", fall outside their jurisdiction, Brian's unyielding sense of duty refuses to allow these crimes to go unsolved. Despite Mike's stern warnings, he dives headfirst into the murky waters of the investigation. Meanwhile, as they grapple with the sadistic serial killer's mind games, they are embroiled in a parallel quest to aid Ann Sliger, a local girl living on probation amidst a dysfunctional family. Brian, with his innate paternal instincts, finds himself drawn to protect Ann from the predatory friends of her negligent mother, even as they are summoned by Mike’s ex-wife, Detective Pam Stall, to assist in a separate but equally disturbing missing woman case. However, the investigation takes a sinister turn when the cunning killer shifts the dynamics, now hunting the detectives themselves. The crime scenes become eerie playgrounds, each one leaving tantalisingly elusive clues, ensuring the predator remains a terrifying step ahead. The stakes escalate to a fever pitch when Ann mysteriously vanishes, pushing the detectives into a deadly race against time.
