Black Books (2000)

Bernard Black runs his book shop with an arrogance and indifference that's insufferable. Because despite being invested in the shop, he thoroughly hates customers and doesn't even have much respect for book buyers. But his job is made halfway tolerable by the fact that it's next door to a gift shop. Nifty Grifty is run by Fran, and she seems to be the only person who gets him. Fran has problems of her own, but Bernard's circumstances will change forever when he decides to sell the shop to someone who can better handle the financial aspects and ends up as an employee in his own store.
