Plot

In the sun-drenched town of Thiers during the summer of 1976, life hums with the vibrant trials and triumphs of childhood. The local teachers and parents painstakingly impart wisdom, compassion, and life skills to their young charges. Among these, a new father, also a devoted teacher, navigates the challenges of parenthood, while a single mother nurtures hopes of finding her elusive Mr. Right. In this lively tapestry, we meet Patrick, a motherless boy on the cusp of adolescence, exploring the fascinating world of the opposite sex. He forms an unlikely friendship with Julien, a newcomer bearing the weight of poverty and a haunting secret. Meanwhile, the audacious Bruno tutors his friends on the art of courting girls, and the spirited Sylvie concocts a clever rebellion against her parents. Mischief and mayhem abound as a group of brothers orchestrate a friendly haircut prank, and an adventurous toddler survives a fall from a window unscathed. Amidst these everyday miracles, the townsfolk flock to the cinema, and at a summer camp, the captivating Martine catches Patrick's attention. Stitched together with the threads of innocence, resilience, and the bittersweet lessons of growing up, Small Change is a heartwarming tribute to childhood. As one insightful teacher proclaims, "Life is hard, but it's wonderful," encapsulating the essence of this poignant tale that reminds us of the small changes that shape our lives.
