Plot

In the sun-drenched world of Venice Beach, the affluent and musically gifted Terry Barkley lives a dual life. On one hand, she's expected to fulfill her parents' dreams of becoming a Julliard flautist, a future that grates against her true passion. On the other, she's a free spirit, intoxicated by the rhythm of roller skates on the boardwalk, mingling with her friend Lana and the vibrant crowd of skaters. Hidden from her inattentive parents, Terry's heart beats not for flute melodies but for the pulsating rhythm of the roller rink. Here, she crosses paths with Bobby James, an Olympic-hopeful roller skater. Initially resistant to Bobby's charm, Terry finds herself drawn in, asking him to teach her the dance of the roller boogie for the upcoming contest at Jammer's - a local rink owned by the former roller derby legend, Jammer Delaney. As Terry and Bobby's relationship evolves beyond the spinning wheels and disco lights of the rink, their roller boogie dreams are jeopardized by the menacing presence of Thatcher, an unscrupulous land developer. With the rink hanging in the balance, Thatcher's threats loom over Jammer and everyone around him, including Terry and Bobby. The stakes rise further when Terry uncovers a personal, albeit indirect link to Thatcher, adding another layer to the turmoil. In the midst of this, Terry must navigate her growing love for Bobby, her passion for roller skating, and the threats to her beloved boardwalk world. The question remains: can she spin away from her well-orchestrated future and glide towards the music she really hears?
