In the not-so-distant future, a new world order has emerged from the ashes of the Corporate Wars. The world as we know it is now dominated by corporations, each with their own professional Rollerball team. This ultra-violent and occasionally deadly sport, despite its brutal rules, has become a spectator spectacle treated with a religious fervor, a perfect mirror to the narcissistic culture of the time. In the heart of this ruthless world is Jonathan E., the superstar player for the Houston team, controlled by the formidable Energy Corporation.
