Plot

Amid the tumultuous epoch of the Vietnam War, Lieutenant Don Jardian, a promising surgeon with a potential thriving medical practice awaiting him back in the States, finds himself three months into his service at a mobile hospital unit in Vietnam. His mission is simple yet daunting; to send his patients home adorned with Purple Hearts, not zipped up in body bags. Despite his relentless efforts, the cruel realities of war have gradually stunted his emotional faculties, leaving him numb to the human life he operates on every day. However, fate steps in when he's dispatched to escort a patient to the naval hospital in Da Nang. There, he crosses paths with Lieutenant Deborah Solomon, a dedicated surgical nurse. She becomes the beacon in his storm, the one who stirs life back into his numbed emotions. Smitten by Deborah, Don becomes determined to navigate the war-torn landscape, risking increasingly perilous missions to earn his chances to see her again. On the other hand, Deborah, shadowed by a mysterious event from her past, is hesitant to surrender to the magnetic pull she feels towards Don. As they grapple with their growing attraction, the geographical distance and Deborah's undisclosed past present formidable challenges. However, the most colossal obstacle looming over their budding relationship is the unforgiving war itself. Will Don's dangerous gambles for brief moments of bliss with Deborah hold a future, or will the reality of war shatter their fragile bond?
