Rescue Dawn (2006)

This is the true story of a U.S. Navy pilot who is shot down over Laos in 1965 during the Vietnam War. He is taken prisoner and tortured and put in a prisoner-of-war camp. He meets other detainees and begins to plan an escape. Several of the other prisoners have also been tortured and become mentally unstable. One tries to thwart the plan. When the guards say they are going to kill all the prisoners because there is no more food, the pilot and one other prisoner put the plan into action and escape into the jungle, where the challenges really begin.
