In the heart of the tumultuous society, a fiery youngster, Bellusamy (Arya), burns with the principles of communism and an unyielding intolerance for societal wrongs. His radical ideologies fuel him, and with Kuyili (Karthika Nair), a fellow communist and the woman he loves, they aim to ignite a revolution. They dream of a state that is a beacon of their beliefs, a model 'dictatorship of the proletariat'. Their crusade, however, is tainted by their unconventional methods. Bellusamy's group raids trains and banks, all in the name of the people, while also daring to challenge the government's illegal dumping of arms and e-waste. However, the path of rebellion is fraught with danger. Bellusamy is captured, his deeds misconstrued as treasonous acts against the state. Overseeing his impending execution is the young, duty-bound ADGP Macaulay (Shaam), the stern custodian of the prison in Chennai. The man tasked with the grim duty of his execution is Yemalingam (Vijay Sethupathy), the state's last experienced hangman, an individual politically naive yet crucial to the system. As Bellusamy's fate hangs in the balance, Kuyili spearheads a desperate mission to rescue him from his grim sentence. Their struggle against time and an unforgiving system forms the crux of this compelling tale.
