English King Edward Longshanks maintains a brutal occupation of Scotland in the 13th-Century. The shockingly cruel treatment of rank-and-file Scots by English soldiers causes one man, William Wallace, to foment rebellion. After the English execute Wallace’s young wife, he leads an overthrow of his village’s English masters and then raises an army to take on the entire Kingdom. Wallace achieves brilliant military victories over Longshanks despite being fantastically outnumbered on the battlefield.
