Passion of Mind (2000)

In the sun-drenched landscapes of Provence, widow and mother of two, Marie, leads a seeming tranquil life. Yet, when she surrenders to sleep, a vibrant, alternate reality unfolds. She dreams of being Marty, a successful literary agent in the heart of Manhattan, who in turn dreams of Marie's bucolic existence. The two women, strikingly similar in appearance, navigate their respective realms in parallel. Marie's world is disrupted by William, a suitor who begins to pursue her. Across the Atlantic, Marty forms a bond with Aaron, an accountant, that blossoms into something more than friendship. As their relationships deepen, both women confide in their lovers about their dream lives. While William broods in jealousy, Aaron embraces the mystery with an open heart. Despite their budding love, Marie resists falling asleep next to William, a barrier that keeps her two lives apart. A getaway to Paris with William stirs the waters further when Marty awakens with a memento from the Parisian hotel on her nightstand. A question lingers in the air – are Marie and Marty the same person? And if so, what holds the key to their shared reality?
