Once revered as the King of Valley Stream, New York in his high school days, Billy Green's life has since taken a downward spiral, landing him as a restroom attendant in a Las Vegas nightclub. Living a double life, he paints an illustrious picture of himself as a club investor, mingling with the rich and famous to his folks back home. A sudden trip back to his roots for Thanksgiving forces him to face the reality - his parents are moving to Santa Fe and his high school sweetheart, Kara Doblowski, has moved on. Billy's nostalgic longing for his reign as "The King" and to rekindle the flame with Kara is met with a rude awakening. Kara, having matured over the years, is now dating Lowell Shapiro, the former high school weirdo turned successful pharmacist who lived across the street from Billy.
