The Perfect Catch (2017)

In the quaint town of Parker Falls, Ohio, lives Jessica, the third-generation proprietor of Wesley's Hometown Diner. She clings to tradition, preserving her grandfather's original menu, policies, and décor, despite the diner's rocky financial situation. The arrival of a new restaurant in town, run by Charlie, only adds to her struggles. A single mom to eight-year-old Wesley, Jessica dedicates her time to motherhood and coaching her son's fledgling baseball skills, all while navigating life post-divorce. Jessica's love life is cautiously reignited by Brett Thompson, a high school acquaintance turned insurance salesman, known as the town's "safest" dating prospect. Meanwhile, Parker Falls' prodigal son, Chase Taynor, grapples with his own issues. Chase, a major league pitcher for Boston and Jessica's old flame, left town fifteen years ago in pursuit of fame, leaving a heartbroken Jessica behind without a backward glance. This pursuit has led him to a life of fame, complete with a supermodel girlfriend. But with age creeping up on him, his pitching prowess waning, and his popularity dwindling after a disastrous championship series loss, Chase finds himself teamless and unsure. In an attempt to escape the limelight, Chase returns to Parker Falls, moving in with his mechanic father, Mason, with whom he shares a strained relationship. Back in his hometown, Chase and Jessica cross paths again, managing to settle old scores. As Jessica and Chase's dormant feelings rekindle, Wesley starts to see Chase as a father figure. Chase, reciprocating Wesley's affection and helping Jessica in her quest to save the diner, finds himself at a crossroads. As their rekindled romance blossoms, Jessica and Chase must confront their future. Unspoken between them is the knowledge that Chase's dream of returning to professional baseball might once again pull him away from Parker Falls, leaving Jessica and Wesley in the lurch. As they grapple with their feelings for each other and their individual ambitions, they must decide how far they are willing to go before the next baseball offer comes knocking for Chase.
