Plot

In the heart of swinging sixties London, a desperate rock band manager, Jonny, is teetering on the edge of ruin. His lackluster clientele is barely sustaining him, and he's knee-deep in debt to a ruthless loan shark known as the Iron Monger. When Jonny is mistaken for his affluent cousin Derek, a golden opportunity falls into his lap - to hire acclaimed director Stanley Kubrick for a mysterious 'Hollywood project'. In this high-stakes, high-tempo action-comedy, the plot spirals into a whirlwind of misadventures as Jonny's drug-addled roommate, Leon, impersonates Kubrick, and they both blindly step into a web of international intrigue. The 'Hollywood project' turns out to be a CIA plan, spearheaded by the traumatized Vietnam veteran agent Kidman. They're to stage an elaborate hoax – a studio enactment of the Apollo 11 moon landing, a tantalizing plan B should the real mission fail and the Russians seize victory in the space race. As the duo initially pocket the cash and plan their escape, they quickly realize the US government isn't so easily fooled or evaded. Pressured by Kidman's relentless pursuit, their only chance of survival is to hire another director - the eccentric junkie commune leader Renatus. Amidst this chaos, they're juggling the band singer's dream project rock opera, the lethal Iron Monger and his merciless enforcers, and an increasingly impatient CIA task force. Moonwalkers (2015) unfurls a riotous conspiracy theory, intertwining desperation, deception, and the biggest con of all time. Will Jonny and Leon pull off the grandest charade in history, or will they crash land in a world of trouble?
