Meltdown: Days of Destruction (2006)

When a high-stakes experiment, intended as a publicity stunt for a satellite company, goes awry, the world is thrust into chaos. Scientist Nathan's desperate warnings fall on deaf ears as his boss insists on detonating an asteroid. The resultant explosion, however, splits the celestial body, with a chunk the size of Iceland veering dangerously towards Earth. Although successfully deflected, the asteroid's proximity nudges our planet closer to the sun, triggering a swift and catastrophic rise in temperatures. As the world teeters on the brink of a devastating meltdown, Nathan rushes to alert his sister Carly, a renowned TV journalist, and her lover Tom, a seasoned police detective. In this rapidly disintegrating world, where fires rage unchecked and desperate humanity fights for dwindling resources, Tom must marshal his rebellious daughter Kim, her ex-convict lover C.J., and Bonnie, Kim's mother and a dedicated nurse, to safety. A small beacon of hope lies in a friend's Arctic weather station, and Nathan offers them a chance at survival - a perilous flight to the icy refuge. As Tom navigates this treacherous journey to the airport, the world around them descends into an apocalyptic frenzy.
