Armageddon (1998)

In order to stop a Texas-sized asteroid from impacting the planet in 18 days, NASA concocts a plan to recruit a gruff team of deep sea oil drillers and send them to space. After they are put through the rigors of astronaut training, their task is to land on the surface of the asteroid, drill a deep hole, and plant a nuclear weapon inside. If the plan goes off without a hitch, then the asteroid will split in two, narrowly missing the planet. The team’s ability to adapt and persevere through impossible circumstances is the only thing preventing ultimate calamity.
