In the isolated world of her childhood, May was an eccentric girl plagued by a lazy eye and friendless existence, her only companion an odd, unattractive doll gifted by her peculiar mother, confined in a glass prison. As she morphs into an equally unusual adult, May's world revolves around an animal hospital where she assists in surgeries, painstakingly stitching up wounded creatures under the watchful eye of her lesbian co-worker, Polly, whose intrigue towards her is hard to miss.
