Plot

On the precipice of wedded bliss, lifelong bachelor and author of "I Hate Kids," Nick Pearson, is staggered by an unexpected revelation: he's a father. A 13-year-old boy named Mason, armed with DNA evidence and the assistance of an eccentric psychic, presents himself as Nick's son, upending his carefully planned life. The fly in the ointment? Nick can't stand kids and his first instinct is to return Mason to his biological mother's care - a woman whose identity is shrouded in mystery. Thrust into a whirlwind journey, Nick, Mason, and the amusingly inept psychic embark on a wild quest of discovery, retracing Nick's steps from 14 years ago. The trio crisscrosses the map, knocking on the doors of Nick's past girlfriends and disgraced flings, where he must pose the awkward question of parenthood - a venture that yields a kaleidoscope of reactions. "I Hate Kids" spirals into a comedic tale of unexpected fatherhood, fraught with the chaos of past relationships, the hilarity of sudden parenthood, and the quest for an elusive mother. As he navigates this new terrain, Nick Pearson's life takes a detour he never envisioned, leading him to question his own narrative and face the irony of his life: a man who hates kids learning to love his own.
