In the heartland of rural Washington, the McMurrin family - devoted parents John and Susan, dynamic preteen twins Amy and Sam, and the eldest, young adolescent Michael - cultivate a life of love and laughter on a farm steeped in familial heritage. This idyllic tranquility shatters when John and Susan tragically perish in a car accident as the festive season begins. Their only remaining kin, the independently spirited Aunt Martha McCarthy, despite her marginal resources, steps up without hesitation.
