Guy X (2005)

In the frost-kissed realm above the Arctic Circle, US Army Corporal Rudy Spruance finds himself unwittingly stationed at a secluded military outpost, Qangattarsa, Greenland in the radiant summer solstice of June, 1979. An uncanny environmental event marks his arrival, leaving an unforgettable imprint on his comrades' memories. However, Rudy's predicament deepens as he grapples with a dual conundrum: he is marooned far from his intended Hawaiian base, and the base stubbornly insists on addressing him as Corporal Martin Pederson, the model soldier originally assigned to this icy fortress. Rudy, a reluctant recruit seeking a reprieve from incarceration, finds himself ensnared in a web of confusion, as all paperwork at the base identifies him as Pederson, an army brat. Lieutenant-Colonel Lane Woolwrap, the base's seasoned commanding officer, has long yearned for a soldier of Pederson’s caliber to serve as the Public Information Officer, a propaganda maestro tasked with buoying the morale with a regular newsletter. The base's true purpose remains cryptic, with soldiers obediently executing orders without question. Desperate to escape this frozen purgatory, Rudy devises plans, both legal and not. Meanwhile, he is drawn into a clandestine romance with Sergeant Irene Teal, Woolwrap's trusted aide and a medical officer. Their covert affair, necessitated by their rank disparity, harbors unseen dangers should it be exposed. Rudy's Arctic adventure takes a drastic turn when he encounters a mysterious figure known only as X. Unraveling X's enigmatic past and his purpose at Qangattarsa could illuminate Rudy's perplexing situation, but extracting this information from X or anyone else may prove a formidable challenge.
