Plot

In Flesh & Blood, reality and fiction intertwine to deliver an unflinchingly authentic portrayal of life's splendid imperfections. Drawing from real-life events, it portrays a world caught between narrative and documentary, crafted with hyperrealistic precision. The film's protagonist, Mark, is played by director and actor Mark Webber, infusing the role with elements of his authentic life. Mark's younger brother, Guillermo, embodies a character of the same name, offering us an intimate journey into the life of a misunderstood and tormented teenager grappling with Asperger's Syndrome. Guillermo's father, Big G, is portrayed by his actual father, a man wrestling with his demons of drug addiction, the abandonment of his son, and the imminent specter of death from 'Hep C'. Cheri, Mark's real-life mother and a prominent anti-poverty activist who once ran for vice-president on the Green Party ticket in 2012, is brought to life by herself. Her relentless activism and often tumultuous romantic choices create continuous friction in her relationships with her children. As the film spirals toward its climactic moment, Mark—both the character and his real-life counterpart—faces a figure from his past in a desperate quest for answers. He seeks to untangle the web of a pain-ridden childhood and an adulthood shackled by addiction. The question that looms over the narrative is poignant and resonant: Will Mark forever be a prisoner of his own Flesh & Blood?
