In the frost-covered France of January 1943, occupied and oppressed, the charming 70-year-old Louise serves as a beacon of solace with her humble bar. It is a place where the war-weary can momentarily forget the surrounding chaos, where militiamen are mere customers sipping their sorrows away, and where no eyebrows are raised at the meals that owe their existence to the shadowy exchanges of the black market. In this sanctuary, Louise's tranquil existence is shattered by an unexpected cry for aid. An English airman, descending from the heavens like an angel in distress, disrupts the quietude. Louise, with a heart as warm as her hearth, makes the dangerous decision to aid the fallen stranger. Alongside Emile, a man who straddles the line between friendship and romance, Louise secretes the airman away in her cellar, under the noses of her unsuspecting patrons. Unknowingly, Louise becomes an unsung heroine of the Resistance, her bar transformed from a refuge of the weary to a sanctuary for the hunted.
