Dog Days takes place in a quiet suburb of Vienna during an extremely hot summer. A wide range of characters are followed throughout the film: a schoolteacher controlled by an amoral pimp, a hitchhiker with uncanny bad luck, a seriously unhappy married couple, and a widower in search of sexual satisfaction all play a part.
