Plot

In the gripping saga of Crossfire, we delve into the chaotic life of Pvt. Samantha Harrison, a former public-school teacher turned National Guardsman. Fresh from a year-long deployment in an Iraqi war zone, she returns to her home in Buffalo, New York, a far cry from the innocent woman who never imagined she would face combat when she enlisted. However, the shadows of war trail behind Sam; she's accused of causing a friendly fire incident that resulted in the deaths of two fellow soldiers. The accusation, spearheaded by the vengeful Army Cpl. A. Graydon, the deceased soldiers' squad leader, is backed by ballistic evidence pointing to Sam's weapon. Despite her desperate fight to recall the chaos of that fateful night, her memories remain shrouded in mystery. Her fellow National Guardsmen—Lt. Jimmy Cooper, Pvt. Billy Peterson, and Pvt. Bobby Rodriguez—know Sam's innocence, crediting her with their survival despite the fog of war that clouded their view. However, their loyalty is tested as they grapple with the fear of testifying on her behalf. Amidst this turmoil, Sam and her former C.O., Cooper, find solace in each other, their shared experiences fueling a romantic connection that may be the only thing keeping Sam grounded. Yet, Sam's battles aren't confined to accusations of friendly fire. She's haunted by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a war wound that remains invisible to everyone except those closest to her. As her best friend, Paige Briar, and her elderly neighbor Walt, a Vietnam veteran, watch her emotional turmoil with concern, Sam dismisses her PTSD, refusing to admit she's a casualty. As if the accusations and PTSD weren't enough, Sam is then thrust into a deadly game. One by one, those she trusts are being targeted, leading her to believe she's being framed. But is this a sinister plot, or is her PTSD manipulating her perceptions? Crossfire is a heart-wrenching narrative that tests the limits of trust, memory, and resilience, as Samantha Harrison fights to hold onto her truth amidst a hailstorm of doubts and deception.
