War of the Worlds (2005)

Aliens arrive on Earth, and a father has to take action to protect his children. The man is a dock worker estranged from his wife and children, but he still feels the need to protect them from harm. On the weekend, a thunderstorm reveals spaceships. He tries to get out of town with his kids and take them to the home of his ex-wife's parents. Along the way, he has to become the protector and provider he never was during the time that he was married to their mom.

War of the Worlds is an adventure movie featuring Tom Cruise and directed by Steven Spielberg.
