Born on the Fourth of July (1989)

Born on Independence Day, a young boy named Ron Kovic lives a life where his parents emphasized patriotism and the solid Catholic faith. As he grows into a teenager, he becomes athletic, fit and a top wrestler on his high school team. One day a local Marine recruiter gives an impassioned speech that inspires Kovic to enlist. After joining the Marine Corp and shipped to Vietnam, he becomes dissolution after being severely wounded and paralyzed. After spending several months in a Bronx Veterans Affairs hospital with dreadful conditions, Kovic becomes a pro-human, anti-war activist.
