After a two-decade-long stint in the army, Will Bastion finds himself drawn back to his roots, returning home to lay his father, the revered chief of the Maori tribe, Ngati Kaipuku, to rest. Kahu, far from being the ideal successor, is a renegade at heart. Leading a pack of miscreants, he wreaks havoc in the town, riding horses through manicured gardens and stirring up trouble. His thirst for power and profit extends beyond mere hooliganism, as he orchestrates a massive marijuana trade under the pretense of a land settlement refusal, partnering with cold-blooded city dwellers.
