Young New Zealander Ricky Baker seems doomed to stay in the foster care system. Everything changes when Bella and Hector take him in. Ricky reluctantly adjusts to life in their care. Bella's death upends the small family they've created. Child Services wants Ricky to return to foster care. Hector and Ricky go on the run instead. Paula Hall, the agent in charge of Ricky's placements, becomes the leader of their manhunt.
