Plot

In the tranquil town of Invercargill, New Zealand, we meet the remarkable Burt Munro, a man whose life is consumed by his passion for speed. For a quarter of a century, he has been meticulously tinkering with his cherished 1920 Indian motorcycle, a mechanical marvel under his watchful eye. Burt dreams of more than just ordinary speed; his eyes are set on the glittering horizon of the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where he aspires to test the limits of his beloved machine and etch his name in the annals of history. However, by the dawn of the 1960s, Burt’s heart begins to falter, posing a threat to his life and his dream. Unyielding, he makes the daring decision to mortgage his home, embark on a journey across the sea to Los Angeles, and then drive to Utah. Armed with an old car, a makeshift trailer, and his mighty Indian motorcycle, Burt sets off on an expedition that is as much a test of his spirit as his mechanical prowess. His open, affable nature wins over the hearts of those he meets during his odyssey, spreading a trail of warmth and charm. With the sprawling expanse of Bonneville looming ahead, the question remains: will the guardians of the salt flats allow this charming old man with his jury-rigged tires, absent brakes, and missing parachute to take his chance? And when given the opportunity, will the World's Fastest Indian rise to the occasion, responding to its master's call and breaking the land speed world record? This is the thrilling story of Burt Munro, a testament to the indomitable spirit of man, and his quest for speed that transcends borders and conventions.
