In the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War, October 1937, Luis Denard, a former musician turned volunteer soldier for the Republican government, embarks on an unenviable mission. Driven by the loss of his wife and daughter in the war, he ventures to London with a covert objective: to negotiate the purchase of coal, a commodity now scarce in war-torn Spain and critical for powering munitions factories. Failing this, he must thwart the Fascist opposition from doing the same. His journey to England is fraught with danger, as the Fascists have infiltrated the country and are aware of his mission.
