Plot

In the enchanting year that Moncho embarks on his formal education journey, he's cradled in the soothing hands of an idyllic existence. School is a playground of wisdom under the gentle guidance of his revered teacher, Don Gregorio. Companionship blossoms in the form of Roque, a newfound friend. The enigmatic world of Eros starts to unveil its secrets to the young boy, all while his older brother, an aspiring saxophonist, introduces him to the rhythmic charm of band trips throughout their hometown in Galicia. However, this tranquil tableau of youthful discovery is juxtaposed against the shadow of looming political upheaval. The Spanish Republic quivers under the relentless assault of Fascist rebels, a storm that threatens to engulf Moncho's father, a staunch Republican, and the elderly Don Gregorio. As the lines of conflict harden and power tilts ominously, the insidious forces of fear, violence, and treachery creep in, distorting the joyous canvas of Moncho's coming of age. The contrast between the innocence of childhood and the harsh realities of political strife plays out, painting a poignant picture of a pivotal year that will profoundly shape Moncho's life.
