Black Legion (1937)

In the heart of America's industrial landscape, Frank Taylor, an unassuming but ambitious machinist, dreams of ascending the ranks to become a foreman. His aspirations are thwarted when the coveted position is awarded to Joe Dombrowski, a diligent Polish-American immigrant who prefers the company of technical manuals to his fellow workers. Embittered by this perceived injustice, Frank succumbs to the influence of a conniving coworker and unwittingly finds himself entangled in the malevolent web of the Black Legion, a clandestine hate group bearing a chilling resemblance to the Ku Klux Klan. As Frank dons the black hood of the Legion, he becomes a puppet of xenophobic paranoia, participating in acts of intimidation against foreign-born Americans.
