Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)

A scientist thinks he's pretty smart, but most of his inventions are of little use. After his mother dies, a community crisis inspires him to try one last time. His invention doesn't do what he wants it to do at the start. An unusual quirk of the machine results in it raining all types of food over the area. As with anything, the residents of the town learn to be careful in what they wish for.
