Bhoothnath (2008)

Aditya, an affluent engineer, together with his wife Anjali and their young son Aman, known endearingly as Banku, decide to change their life's course and set sail to the sun-soaked lands of Goa. Their new abode, a grand bungalow christened 'Nath Villa', built in the nostalgic year of 1964, stands as a beacon of their fresh start. However, whispers of the house being haunted do little to deter the family's resolve. As Aditya resumes his work and Banku embarks on his journey at St. Francis High School, Anjali employs Anthony, a drunken rogue, to cleanse their new home of its old dust. But soon, unsettling shifts start to occur. Banku finds himself on the receiving end of Principal J.J. Irani's wrath for his declining performance in school. Yet, the real surprise comes when Banku introduces his new friend, Bhoothnath, to his disbelieving parents. As the stories of his ghostly companion grow, a local resident reveals that Banku's imaginary friend is strikingly similar to Kailash Nath, the deceased former owner of Nath Villa. Anjali, initially dismissive, soon has to confront the eerie truth. Their charming bungalow is indeed haunted by the spirit of Kailish Nath. The ghost, unsettled by the presence of new inhabitants, realizes an unexpected kinship with the innocent Banku. The spectral resident of Nath Villa develops an unyielding attachment to Banku, refusing to let the family leave the house. The ghost, however, was not prepared for the strength of their friendship, and Banku, in turn, becomes determined to help his spectral friend find peace. Now, Banku finds himself on a mission not just to uncover the mysterious reason behind Bhoothnath's eternal stay but also to guide his ethereal companion towards the light of salvation.
