Plot

In the tumultuous wake of Japan's invasion of the Philippines during World War II, Captain Henry Lassiter finds himself commanding an intrepid cavalry of the US Army on the Bataan Peninsula. Thirteen men, an unlikely assembly of American and Filipino military personnel, volunteer for a mission teetering on the precipice of peril. Their daring task: to annihilate a strategic bridge spanning a deep ravine, crippling the Japanese transportation route and then valiantly defending against the inevitable onslaught of counterattack. Among the volunteers is Lieutenant Steve Bentley of the Air Corps, desperately trying to resurrect his downed plane from the jungle's underbrush, and the taciturn infantryman, Sergeant Bill Dane, the senior figure amongst them. These men, well aware of the mission's lethal stakes, understand the slim odds of survival. Outnumbered and outgunned, they face not only the looming threat of the relentless Japanese forces, but also the tension that simmers within their own ranks. Each man, hiding in the depths of the jungle, is a part of a camouflage chess game, neither side willing to uncover their position until the absolute necessity arises. Amongst this group of thirteen, a disparity arises, particularly between the steely Dane and Corporal Barney Todd, both men tiptoeing around a shared past that remains as unspoken as it is palpable. "Bataan" is a tale of courage and survival, a suspenseful cat-and-mouse game played out in the shadowy corners of the jungle, where alliances are tested, and heroes are forged amidst the echoes of war.
