Life Is Beautiful (1997)

Set in the shadows of World War II, Life Is Beautiful revolves around the story of Guido Orefice, a young Jewish man from Italy. After winning the heart of a Gentile woman called Dora, his happy and ideal existence is threatened to come undone in 1944 by the Nazi’s occupation of northern Italy following the Allied invasion. As Guido and his family are sent to a concentration camp, he attempts to prevent his son from discovering the dire truth of their situation by constructing a kind of alternate reality with his charming humor and imagination.
