In the simmering heat of an L.A. summer, the city is ensnared in a state of heightened alert. Amidst this, Mustafa, an Egyptian immigrant and falafel shop owner, unwittingly draws the FBI's probing gaze, adding another layer of complexity to his already troubled life. Mustafa's sister, a steadfast nurse, rebels against his attempts to orchestrate her marriage to a cousin from Egypt, as her heart is already claimed by a non-Arab suitor. Alongside Mustafa, there's Omar, an employee and aspiring actor, who is desperate to break free from the stereotype of playing terrorist roles. Mustafa dreams of upgrading his falafel shop to a full-fledged restaurant, with potential support from Sam, a Jewish man whose family harbors reservations about their alliance.
