Plot

In a world where traditions are confining and dreams stretch beyond the horizon, Joseph Donnelly, a spirited young Irishman, finds himself on the brink of eviction from his ancestral property following his father's death. Consumed by a sense of injustice, he targets Daniel Christie, his affluent landlord, for retaliation. However, fate has a different path for him as he is injured in the process and is forced into a duel with Christie's haughty manager, Stephen Chase. In the midst of this turmoil, Christie's daughter, Shannon, a young woman brimming with defiance against the constraints of her generation and a thirst for modernity, decides to embark on a journey to the more progressive shores of America. Aided by Shannon, Joseph escapes his predicament and together they set off to Boston, their hearts filled with dreams and hopes. Upon reaching the New World, they find employment and begin to save money, with Joseph earning as a local bare-hands boxer, and Shannon finding work in a chicken processing plant and later as a dancer at a social club. However, their dreams take a beating when Joseph loses a boxing match, and their hard-earned money is stolen, leaving them to shiver and starve in the chilly winter. Back in Ireland, Shannon's parents grapple with a heartbreaking loss and resolve to reunite with their daughter, traveling to America with Chase, who is determined to find Shannon. Unbeknownst to them, Joseph, a beacon of resilience, brings an injured Shannon to them after a tragic accident. Joseph then journeys westward to toil on the railroad, still fueled by his dreams. As months pass, a dreamlike encounter with his father reminds Joseph of his yearning to own land. Driven by this revived dream, he joins the wagon trains to Oklahoma Territory, just in time for the massive land race. There, in the vast, untamed expanse of the frontier, Joseph's fate awaits, his dream of owning land hanging in the balance. "Far and Away" is an epic tale of dreams tested by adversity, love forged in hardship, and the relentless pursuit of a brighter future in the heart of the American frontier.
