As the 1930s unfold, German expatriates Martin Schulz and Max Eisenstein are bound by more than just their shared roots and successful art gallery in San Francisco. Their families are intertwined, their children, Heinrich Schulz and Griselle Eisenstein, caught in the spell of young love, with the promise of a shared future. However, when Martin and his family decide to return temporarily to Munich to seek more art treasures, their lives take an unexpected turn. In Munich, Martin Schulz, once an unassuming art dealer, becomes ensnared by the persuasive rhetoric of the Nazi Party, lured by the illusion of power and prestige.
