Plot

In the shadowy twilight of 1941, Rick Leland, a U.S. artillery officer, finds himself cast away from his homeland, his loyalty questioned and his military career abruptly ended by a court-martial. With a seemingly tarnished reputation, he boards a Japanese ship setting sail for the Orient, his motives shrouded in mystery. Intrigue intensifies as Leland grows close to his enigmatic fellow passenger, Doctor Lorenz, a man who raises more questions than he answers. Simultaneously, Leland is drawn to the captivating Alberta Marlow, a fellow traveler whose allure is undeniably evident. Is his interest in her simply a longing for companionship, or does she hold the keys to a deeper puzzle? As the ship cuts through the murky waters, Leland's true intentions remain as elusive as the horizon. Leland's journey takes an unexpected detour when he receives a job offer in Central America, with a layover in Panama. This stopover proves to be far from ordinary as he stumbles upon a sinister plot brewing beneath the surface. The Japanese, it seems, have set their sights on more than just the Pearl Harbor; they plan to launch an assault on the strategic Panama Canal. "Across the Pacific" plunges you into a world of suspense, mystery, and high stakes set against the backdrop of impending war. As Leland navigates through a web of deceit and danger, the question remains: is he truly a disgraced officer, or is there an unseen game of espionage at play? This thrilling narrative promises to keep you guessing until the very end.
