A Piece of the Action (1977)

In the notorious underbelly of high-stakes thievery, Dave Anderson and Manny Durrell are legends, never once apprehended for their meticulously executed capers. Their clever exploits have left law enforcement flummoxed, except for one keenly observant eye - Joshua Burke, a freshly retired detective who holds the key to their undoing. But Burke, rather than delivering them to the jaws of justice, presents an unexpected proposition; a chance for redemption. He offers them a choice to leave their life of crime and use their skills for the betterment of society, by working at a rehabilitation center for troubled youth. It's a deal sealed with a threat, work with the delinquents or face the unforgiving legal system. Initially, the duo scoffs at the idea, their reluctance mirrored by the equally skeptical teenagers. However, as time sails on, they find themselves forming an unlikely bond with the kids, their hardened exterior softened by the admiration and trust they earn. The job they once scorned becomes a source of unexpected satisfaction. But just when they start to believe in their second chance, a ghost from their past resurfaces, demanding one final, flawless heist. Now, with their newfound peace teetering on the edge, Dave and Manny must decide between falling back into their old life or risking it all for a piece of the action that could change their lives and those of the kids forever.
