A Little Help (2010)

Laura Pehlke, a dental hygienist, finds her marriage floundering in a sea of apathy and suspicion. Her casual indulgence in alcohol and cigarettes, coupled with her disheveled appearance, fuels her paranoia about her husband's fidelity. When he unexpectedly passes away, Laura is thrust into a whirlwind of familial manipulation. Her domineering sister and mother coerce her into a legal battle against her late husband's doctor – a fight she's reluctant to wage. Moreover, they insist on sending her shy and emotionally disturbed son to a prestigious private school – a place he dreads. As Laura navigates the labyrinth of her life, she uncovers her son's fabricated tale of his father being a fallen 9-11 hero, shared with his unsuspecting classmates. To further complicate her life, her brother-in-law confesses his long-concealed love for her, not her sister. Amidst this chaos, Laura realizes she needs "a little help" to reclaim control and find her footing in this new, daunting reality.
