7th Heaven (1927)

In the heart of Paris, during the dawn of the twentieth century, resides Chico, a humble sewer worker with dreams reaching far beyond his current station. One fateful night, he becomes the unexpected savior of Diane, a young woman ensnared in the trappings of prostitution, from the lethal fury of her domineering sister. Despite her circumstances, Diane's honesty and innocence shine, leading Chico to impulsively declare her his wife when the authorities come knocking. This unexpected proclamation traps them in a delicate charade, where the threat of imprisonment looms if their facade crumbles. With a hesitant heart, Chico invites Diane to share his humble abode. As they navigate this forced cohabitation, the seeds of affection are sown, and a tender love story begins to unfold. Yet, the foreboding clouds of World War I are gathering over France, casting an ominous shadow on their blossoming love.
