Returning to her childhood town of Ikebukuro, high school student Homura Suzuko finds herself grappling with both the joys of nostalgia and the daunting challenge of fitting in at school. Her heart clings onto the cherished memories of her old friend, Morikawa Chinatsu, and anticipation bubbles within her at the thought of rekindling their friendship. However, an unexpected turn of events propels Suzuko into an uncharted realm when she stumbles upon the card game WIXOSS. Hoping to find social acceptance among her peers, she purchases a deck set from a local card shop. The ordinary deck, however, reveals itself to be anything but when the girl illustrated on one of the cards springs to life, welcoming Suzuko into the surreal role of a Selector. Suddenly, Suzuko finds herself immersed in a high-stakes game where the currency is not money but memories, encapsulated within five precious coins. Winning the game offers the tantalizing promise of reclaiming all their memories and escaping the game. A loss, however, carries a dire penalty known ominously as "Lostorage."
