Society was almost destroyed when it was first attacked by giant monsters known as Angels, but they managed to salvage humanity through the use of giant robots known as Evangelion. But the unique process of bonding with these machines means that they can only be piloted by teenagers. Shinji Ikari is the latest pilot introduced into the Evangelion program. As the father of the commander-in-chief, there are big expectations for Shinji. It's a situation that he finds anxiety-inducing, but he won't have time to sulk. He'll need to learn how to fight in the field with little in the way of training.
