In the bleak heart of winter, actress and part-time bartender, Reese Holden finds herself in a peculiar predicament. A book editor, lured by the literary allure of her family's past, propositions her with a small fortune. The task seems simple enough – secure the intimate love letters penned by her father, a secluded novelist, to her late mother, and allow them to see the light of publication. Motivated by the lure of $100,000, Reese embarks on a journey from the bustling streets of New York City to the frosty solitude of her Michigan hometown. However, the home she returns to is nothing like the one she left behind. Her once revered father now seeks refuge in the garage, his health and well-being seemingly forgotten in the company of two strangers - an ambitious ex-grad student and a hopeful musician. As Reese delves deeper into this unfamiliar world, she realizes that retrieving the letters may not be as straightforward as she initially thought.
